01/03/2013 - Start!
Previously I have been discussing whether I should put an M1B
180hp engine or A1B6 200Hp in the plane. After some
research I realised that I wanted to have an A1B6 but affording it
was a challenge. I researched ways of finishing the main
construction and cowl fit without having to part with lots of
money for a brand new engine and then have it sit around for a
long time before I finished it. The answer curtsey of
Jay Pratt in the States was to find a crank case, crank and
starter ring that was no longer able to fly and buy this cheaply
compared with a brand new engine. The temporary engine would
allow me to fit all the cowl and therefore paint the aircraft
before I had the final new engine purchased.
After
much searching I now have a Lycoming A3B6D which means the final
engine will be a A1B6 200hp engine.
